The Late 1800's
Where it all started
In the late 1800's John Fetzner owned and operated a blacksmith shop on West Ridge Road in Rochester, New York. With the arrival of the automobile in the early 1900's, John Fetzner's son Ray saw the need for a repair shop to service these automobiles. Ray Fetzner expanded the business to include a repair shop that sold and serviced Hudsons. Ray's son John worked for his father in the automobile business and began doing body and paint work in a building behind the shop. In 1964, John Fetzner moved the auto body portion of the shop to its present location at 2485 Dewey Ave.

In 1964, John Fetzner moved the auto body portion of the shop to its present location at 2485 Dewey Ave. John started on Dewey Ave with just one rented bay. As business grew he rented more of the building and eventually purchased the property. For many years he worked at Kodak and ran Fetzner Collision on the side. Eventually the shop became busy enough that John was able to leave Kodak and repair cars full time.

THROUGH THE YEARS…
John Fetzner retired in the 90s, leaving the shop to ten of his children and managed by his son Jim. Jim retired in 2017 handing over the management to his nephew Brian. Some of the Fetzners who took over for John have started to retire, handing over the reigns to the third generation of Fetzners who work together with their highly trained staff in providing our customers the best service possible using state-of-the-art technology. High quality repairs and guaranteed workmanship have kept people coming to Fetzner Collision for over 70 years.
